Trimming down the Grocery Budget.. By the Ounce....

What is price per Ounce?

The formula is simple:
Take the dollar amount of the product and divide it by the number of ounces in the package

Have you really thought much about it? The numbers on the stickers under the products usually list them.. But what are they for?  Similar products have different weights just because both are priced at 2/$5 does NOT mean you are getting an equally good deal.
Here is an example...
Gain and Cheer 2/$10
Gain is 32-40 Loads
Cheer is 40-62 Loads

Which is the better buy?  Of course the Cheer.. Would you have looked that close before?  That Cheer just bought you almost 20 more loads of laundry!!!
Gain is $0.12 load
Cheer is $0.83 load
.
Lets take it one step further....Same Prices...but adding in a coupon...
Coupon for Gain $1.50
Coupon for Cheer $1.00/2

Which is the better buy now?
Gain would be  0.87 per 40 loads with coupon
Cheer would be 0.73 per 122 loads with coupon (have to buy 2)

Where applicable I am going to be adding price per ounce or use. I just included it in the Walgreens ad below, it is the last number or the row.
